Officers from the Annapolis Police Department were called late on Monday night to a home in the 400 block of Oaklawn Avenue to investigate a reported dispute involving 29-year-old Antonio Brown and his ex, who got into a verbal altercation that rapidly escalated.

The woman said that she told Brown that he needed to pack up his belongings and leave “before one of them got hurt," police say.

She told officers that Brown gathered his belongings and walked out of the residence before running back into the home, pushing her onto the ground and strangling her with both hands.

While she was being choked, the victim said the Annapolis resident hit her in the head and face before fleeing the area on foot.

The woman said that before Brown left the area, he made suicidal statements to her, investigators say.

Responding officers were able to track down Brown at a nearby gas station, where he initially stated he was not suicidal, but later backtracked what he said.

According to police, "due to Brown's statements and behavior, he was taken into protective custody and transported to the Anne Arundel Medical Center for an emergency petition."

Police say that "an application for charges was completed and submitted to the Commissioner." An arrest warrant has been issued for Brown.
